Research
My interest in Oceanographic Research started in college when I went on a 12 week program with Sea Education Association. I was part of a student group that desgined and conducted a project looking at River Plumes in the Pacific Northwest. Our paper was accepted, and we presented, at the 2007 National Conference on Undergraduate Research. The middle photo is from a deployment of an Argo Float. All three images courtesy of Skye Moret-Fergussen, 2006.
The next row of photos come from a trip to Baja that I took with a professor to aid in her research on Grey Whale Migrations (with some sea turtle tagging too). Part of our collected data went to her paper which was published in Marine Mammal Science in 2008, and her work with Earthwatch which can be found here. All three images courtesy of Dr. Lei Lani Stelle, 2007.
The last row of photos are from data collection and anaylsis I did for Sea Education Association's ongoing Plastic at Sea research. They published their results on Science Magazine. The website for the entire research program can be found here. A video from one of the trips highlighting different research objectives and technologies can be viewed below. All three images courtesy of Sea Education Association.

Technology for the Classroom
Throughout my masters program I have learned many different technology tools to aid in classroom learning. From Woordles and Blogs to interactive presentations and videos. My favorite is the creation of digital stories. They are an excellent way to introduce a topic in a visual, auditory, and fun manner. The following video I created for a class to answer a student's question "Why is the Ocean Salty?"

Coaching
I have been involved in athletics my entire life and got the chance to play Women's Lacrosse in college. Since taking off my jersey and putting on a whistle I have loved every minute of coaching.

Technology for Publication
Through my undergraduate program I took many classes in video editing and production. I learned a host of different computer programs such as the Adobe Suite including editing software Final Cut Pro and photo editing and presentation software Photoshop and Illustrator. These three photos are from a project I worked on for the Jewish Community Federation of Greater Rochester in editing film from interviews of Holocaust survivors to be made into an educational DVD set. The project can be found at http://perilousjourneys.org

Sail Training
My love for sailing has taken me around the world on many an epic adventure. This past summer I was given the chance to pass along my love for the waves to a new generation as I joined the historic and world renowned Sumer Naval School at Culver Academy. Their website can be found here as well as a video about the program. I have always found the lessons learned in sail training to echo those needed for a life on land. Lessons in Leadership, Responsibility, Teamwork, and Fun.

Medical Photography
My undergraduate training and first career was in the field of Biomedical Photography and Communications. I worked at three different hospitals as an Ophthalmic Photographer - as seen in the first three images below. I have also created numerous educational posters using my photography as shown in the next three images.
Images 1 & 3 as well as the storyboards are my own. Image 2 courtsey of UC Davis Medical Center, 2007.

Art Photography
While I have traveled the world and moved career paths I have always remained intrigued and drawn to photography as an art medium. I have had multiple prints accepted into Galleries and contests as well as shown in magazines and news programs.

Blogs
I have created many different blogs for different courses throughout my Masters program. They are a great way to share information to students and parents or experiences to friends the world over.
Here are two examples of my previous course blogs.
This blog was created for the class The Nature and Design of Compelling Expereinces

This second blog was created for the class Creativity in Teaching and Learning
