This was the introduction and base foundation course the MSU online MAED program. It provided an opportunity to think and exchange ideas about beliefs in education and the many forms of inquiry related to it.

Promoting Positive Youth Development Through Sports

Sport Law for Administrators and Coaches

This course is aimed to prepare athletic coaches or administrators, for the responsibilities associated with providing and maintaining educationally sound athletic programs for amateur athletes. Emphasis was placed on understanding the risks associated with participation in physical activities and the consequences of failing to protect the welfare of individuals who participate in such programs.
Coursework Example: Many assignments for this course were structured around Moot Court Cases where we had to view the argument from both sides. Here is an example from an issue surrounding Title IX.

They are included in the National Science Education Standards and in the standards of many states including Michigan. This course provided the opportunity to strengthen knowledge and skills in both areas.

This course explored a wide range of questions relating to creativity. The main focus was on understanding that creativity is of extreme importance to educators both for their students as well as themselves.

The Nature and Design of Compelling Experiences

The goal of this course was to provide a more complete understanding of the nature and design of compelling experiences. They are professionals in the arts and in a very real sense; professionals in the arts share the same goals as professionals in education. Their job is to inspire, provoke, and make us think and feel. Professionals in these areas have a working understanding of how to make something ordinary a bit more extraordinary. The course took a close look at their work in order to think of education in new and exciting ways.
Coursework Example: My final project for this course was a video showcasing an ordinary event turned into a compelling experience. You can view the film entitled "The Walk" here.
